Today we’d like to introduce you to Elijah Tyson.

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

My name is Elijah. I am a NY native, Peak Performance Coach, and Wellness consultant. My story of how I got to where I am today starts with my first experience building a hard tech startup. I was fresh out of college and looking to build a venture capital-backed company with my two co-founders. Inside this space, I was very quickly exposed to adversity minorities face in the business and venture capital space due to lack of access, information, capital, and opportunities. After having this revealed to me in multiple capacities, I did what most minority founders do. Bury my head in the Hustle and Grind. This was until I began to experience the burnout, mental health pitfalls, and physical health pitfalls that come from embracing the belief that you have to trade health for success. See most men of color have heard from their mothers or fathers at growing up that they will “have to work 10X as hard as the person who doesn’t look like them to achieve what they have.” Those are the same cutthroat words that help us push through the adversity but also at the same time justify the sacrifice of things like physical and mental health to achieve success. The problem is, when we are not healthy, we are not able to show up 100% for our business and purpose. And when I realized that, I dedicated my time and skillsets to helping minority businessmen build their health while in pursuit of wealth.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

Along my pathway to success, I have had to learn many lessons and ditch many old belief patterns for new ones that would better serve myself and my community. The first is that you cannot lead others until you can lead yourself. There are many coaches out there who are coaching things that they do not embrace or have not accomplished. I take my responsibility in leading other Men very seriously. I have spent over $50K in education, development, coaching, and certifications to deliver the value that I deliver to the marketplace. My self-awareness keeps me waking up every day and taking a hard look in the mirror to ensure I have the capability to lead others. This is always why I personally hire fitness, spiritual and financial coaches. It speeds up the time to learn to become sharper and more efficient in my prospective skillsets and areas of expertise because I am operating from an area of abundance. Ultimately, I have taken the time to get comfortable with the uncomfortablility that comes with evolving.

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

I am the founder of The GrindTribe. We are a fitness and peak performance community for Black & Brown Businessmen, Leaders & Entrepreneurs. We help men that have fallen victim to burnout and have gotten out of shape because of the demands of their career, life and business get back in shape, have more energy, and decrease stress from their lifestyle. What makes us different from the competition is the results we help our men achieve from our concierge-style high-level coaching. We take a mind-body but also a numbers-driven approach to get our men in shape and in peak performance with clarity, confidence, and ease of mind. We do this with our 4M method. Mindset, Metabolic Capacity, Macros & Meditation. These make up the 4 pillars of our coaching philosophy to enable men to adopt a lifestyle of health, energy, confidence, and capacity. Our men will see results without doing the guesswork with dieting, working out for ridiculous hours in the gym, or spinning their wheels with the contextless mindset and motivation content all in 90 days or less.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

The best advice I would give to readers looking to find success in their life is to take care of the health, physically, mentally, and emotionally. Your body is the most important piece of real estate yet so many of us take it for granted. Success and money mean nothing without health and meaningful relationships. The health of your body and mind will fuel your confidence, clarity, and capacity to do more in life.

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

Success to me means health, happiness, and abundance.

What’s next for you?

My goal is to grow The GrindTribe to the #1 peak performance community for Black and Brown men. I want to reach my goal of helping 100,000 men transform their health while taking ownership of their lives and businesses!

Finally, how can people connect with you if they want to learn more.
