Today we’d like to introduce you to Naomi Beverly.

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

The honor is mine! I’m Naomi Beverly, mother of 4 beautiful, brilliant children, Mental Health Peer Counselor, educator, and #1 Amazon Bestselling Author. I am from Newark, New Jersey and raised by my awesome father in Marietta, Georgia by my awesome father. 2020 has been hard on so many, so I am launching my Bestseller Young Author Project to help bridge the gap and bring some excitement and innovation to remote learning! Reading is fundamental. Writing is a non-negotiable. Social Emotional Learning and Emotional IQ are critical to lifelong success. What child would not want to see their own words and a story that THEY created turned into a bestselling book? Bestseller Young Author Project merges these three crucial components of education into a phenomenal real-world project that children and their families will cherish forever. It also allows students to join a worldwide community of likeminded peers to connect and socialize! Imagine walking into the library, media center, or learning commons at your school and checking out YOUR OWN book with images and characters who are reflections of YOU. Powerful. From that point on, no one can convince you that you are not important or influential. You are a PUBLISHED, BESTSELLING author! Bestseller Young Author Project ‘s mission is to make EVERY child a bestselling author. Because every child deserves to be the hero in their own story and have their voices heard in a supportive community. The Bestseller Young Author Project is truly extending learning beyond the classroom.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

You are correct! I’ve had an amazing journey! I was a star athlete and International Baccalaureate (IB) scholar in high school in 3 sports and earned a full track and field scholarship to Temple University. I was a flight attendant and then became a teacher when I started my family. . In 2018, after leaving a very emotionally abusive marriage while I was pregnant for the safety of myself and my children, I was diagnosed with clinical depression and anxiety. I used self-publishing as a strategy to cope with the trauma. Additionally, I used Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) leave to attend intensive therapy and to make sure the baby was safe from stress. Simultaneously, my children and I entered family counseling to minimize the impact of the impending divorce on my other three small children. It was such a powerful experience that I became a mental health professional myself and launched Naomi Beverly Coaching LLC to help others rebuild their lives after trauma in a supportive community. During that time, we stayed with friends for a while and then stayed in a hotel for about 6 months until I was able to secure a home for my family with the help of Family Promise of Cobb County. It’s an organization that helps families experiencing homelessness, and with the impact of COVID-19, they can definitely use any extra support people can give. Part of the proceeds from this round of the Bestseller Young Author Project goes to FPCC.

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

The work I specialize in now includes helping people work through trauma by sharing and self-publishing their stories, helping to launch authors to bestseller status, and speaking to groups on the topics of mental health, self-love, self-care, and self-publishing. People who work with me over the competition see that I am extremely passionate about what I am doing. This is my life’s purpose, and it merges together my skillsets, my profession, my experiences, and my talents. I’ve spent the last 12 years teaching writing, and the last 2 years perfecting the self-publishing process. Recently, I’ve learned the insider secrets for setting up a fantastic campaign for launching projects to bestseller status. I want to share what I know to make people feel good about themselves, especially now with so much going on in the world. I speak to teens on the power of faith, grit, and perseverance. But now, Social Emotional Learning and Emotional IQ are very much needed. Dealing with the big feelings, knowing what to do in the face of circumstances outside of our control, and having the resilience and positivity needed to prepare for a better tomorrow are the types of book topics we will launch with the Bestseller Young Author Project campaigns. Teachers, parents, principals, superintendents…anyone can reach out to be coached through the process. Innovative leaders can use Title I funds to invest in their student’s success. Students will happily read and write when they have such an amazing product come out at the end.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

My best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their lives is “Don’t Wait to be Great!” That’s actually the title of the book that the Bestseller Young Author Project is releasing in Q1 of 2021. Kids from around the USA have contributed their thoughts on what it means to be great, and are sharing the ways they are already great…from the small, everyday acts they contribute to larger dreams and goals they have. It’s beautiful! There are also some wisdom nuggets from some older people- big kids- who share short stories or poems meant to inspire and encourage. Once you decide to be great- starting right now- get very clear on what that means to you. Success is best personally defined by each individual. My idea of success may look very different than yours, and that’s ok. Once you get clear, surround yourself with people who understand and support your vision, and find mentors and coaches who propel you toward greatness. Spend time making a vision board, and visualizing your life as though you are already experiencing the success you want. Show up in the world the way you want to be received. The Bestseller Youth Author Project gives EVERY child an opportunity to show up in the world as the superstar they already are…and they have the bestselling book as proof of success. Maybe their test scores aren’t the highest, or they don’t feel like the smartest…but they CAN BE a bestselling youth author!

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

The word success is so powerful because ideally, we all define it for ourselves. When I was younger, I was programmed to think that success was getting the degree (I have a master’s and am finishing my capstone for my second master’s), the safe job, the house with the fence, the marriage, and 2.5 kids, etc. And that is success for some. However, after living, loving, birthing, losing, and learning from phenomenal coaches and mentors worldwide in multiple fields, I realize that for me, success is being on the path that is uniquely mine doing what I am meant to do. It’s being happy with myself and my contributions to the world. It’s helping others and sharing what I have and what I know. It’s being the best mom possible to my children, the best friend, the best daughter, and the best version of myself…everyday. It’s showing up for myself, and choosing health in all of its forms: mental, emotional, spiritual, and phyiscal. It’s having healthy boundaries and operating from love. Success is using my unique skillsets and teaching the next generation how to gain skills in the area of Social Emotional Learning, reading and writing via the Bestseller Young Author Project. It’s leaving a legacy for my own children, and boosting the self-esteem and ideas of what is possible for my students. It’s making the most of every opportunity and seeking opportunities to grow. It’s confidently manifesting our dream life through clarity and massive, aligned, strategic and intentional action.

What’s next for you?

What’s next for me is to begin to travel, speak/inspire, and sing when it is safe to do so. My children have their own online company, established in 2020 called Sound Design and Development LLC. @ http://www.sounddesignanddev.com. So, as a homeschool mom, I stress the importance of both formal education and entrepreneurship as paths to success. I’ll continue educating, coaching, and publishing, working out, mothering and spreading as much love and positivity as I can wherever I go. Thank you for this amazing opportunity.
